Rafeeat Aliyu was born and raised in Nigeria. She has an MFA in Creative Writing from North Carolina State University. Her short story “58 Rules To Ensure Your Husband Loves You Forever” was long listed for the 2018 Writivism Short Story Prize and has been translated into Spanish and Japanese. She received the Norwescon Scholarship to attend the Clarion West Workshop for science fiction and fantasy writers in 2018.

In 2020, she was one of three African writers selected for the AKO Caine Prize Online with Vimbai mentorship program which culminated in the story “The Land of Prophetic Women” published in A Mind to Silence and other stories: The Caine Prize for African Writing.

Rafeeat is a 2023 Morland Writing Scholar and will be working on a novel about love, home and inheritance in a post-colonial world.
